  6. toricity the normally round 
  7. mires will appear oval since 
  8. the radii in the two meridians 
  9. are quite different.  The 
  10. steeper meridian gives a 
  11. smaller mire image (narrow 
  12. portion of the oval) and the 
  13. flatter meridian gives a 
  14. larger mire image (long axis 
  15. of the oval).
